Finding New Excitement

Well, life on the road has been a little less exciting since the stay in place order was put in place.  While we have been social distancing, my wife thought we could social distance more quickly in a Mustang GT, so we bought one.

While in Florida, our neighbor, Dennis informed us he was looking to sell his 2013 Ford Mustang GT convertible before heading to Colorado.  He wanted to keep it till he was ready to travel which was to be at the beginning of April.  Things changed and his departure date was extended several months.  I mentioned to Dennis, who was trying to sell it to a dealer, that we may be interested.  It was a nice looking vehicle and he was the original owner, who took care of his car.  It was garage kept in Philadelphia until he traveled to Florida.

Talking to Deb, I discovered she always wanted a convertible!  Deb’s father, Art, a few years earlier had told me that he always wanted a Jeep.  I offered to take him out to find one, but he declined. This was unfortunate, I thought, that a man that had worked so hard all his life was not able to experience the joy, the Jeep may have brought him.

I didn’t want that to happen too Deb, so I strongly encouraged her to think about us buying the Mustang.  It would mean that we would both be driving separately between campgrounds.  Navigating would get more challenging since it was not something she could do when in route, as she could while sitting next to me.

However, there would be some advantages.  Overnight stays, while traveling, would not require us to unhook the 5th wheel from the truck to have transportation available.  She could also drive ahead and verify we are not traveling to an area where the truck and 5th wheel may not fit.  We plan well, but it is always a concern.

Did I tell you it is a little easier to park than the truck! Well maybe that wasn’t a good enough reason to justify the purchase, but it made my wife smile, so there is reason enough!
