Back in the “Burgh”

Our surprise visitor

Our surprise visitor

This guy surprised me this morning when I headed out with the dog. He was just hanging out on our front door and was still there after our morning walk. Believe it or not, this has been our most exciting happening since being back in the Pittsburgh area. Perhaps a bit boring, but we are enjoying being back home.

For the last 6 weeks, we have done all of our annual doctor, dentist, and eye appointments as well as focusing our free time catching up with family and friends. I guess I am not the best blogger. I don’t even think about taking pictures when visiting and I just focus on the people I am with. So far, we have gotten together with many of our family and friends but not all. We hope to see more in the next 6 weeks or so that we are here. I did get a picture at dinner the other night with some family and friends that I can share.  I also got a picture at my niece’s bridal shower. As you can see, we are enjoying family time.

We took a trip to Potter County for a week at the end of July and stayed at Baker Run Hunting and Fishing Club. Tim has been a member of this camp for many years and we hadn’t been there in 3 years.  Our daughter Katie asked about going there for a week while her husband was doing demo work in their house for a major remodel project. She is pregnant so didn’t want to stay in the house until the demo and clean up was done. Her dog sitter fell through so it ended up the 3 of us and 2 dogs for the week.  Tim’s brother and sister in law also joined us for a couple nights and our friends, Jack and Denise, joined us for one night.

It was a quiet week just relaxing and enjoying the solitude and mountain air. We did some target shooting and lots of walks with the dogs. The area hasn’t changed much over the years except the neighboring camp is now a home and trail riding business. They seem to have a good business going; we saw multiple groups go out daily for rides.  For the most part, the dogs did well and handled walking past the horses on the road without too much difficulty.

Speaking of the dogs, they had a blast playing together. We never have Trent around other dogs so it was great to see him and Teddy together.  Trent wasn’t as well behaved as usual on walks though. We definitely need to work on his excitement when walking with another dog.

Tim’s brother Rege had camp reserved the following week so we stayed until Monday with them. Our niece Sarah came on Sunday and Jenny arrived on Monday. It was great to see them and since Jenny had been Trent’s handler, he was really excited to see her. I wasn’t sure he would want to come home with us but as soon as he saw us packing the truck, he was at our side and anxious to get in. He is definitely our dog now!

We will be in the Pittsburgh area for another 6 weeks so hopefully we will get out and about more. I will have more pictures of the area and fun things to do in the “Burgh” in the next blog post.
